Yikes!! AmericaBlog linked to my previous post - which has left me flattered and a little nervous at the same time. I don't think I'm comfortable with that many eyes on me... as most of my readers (all 10 of them) are friends and family. To go from 10 hits a day to 18,000 and counting is disconcerting. Hopefully it'll end soon.
At any rate, John Aravosis' request to his readers to dig up some more info on my post led to someone linking this article. It pretty much explains things, except that it's not limited to the EA-6B community. I still contend that the only reason a Naval Aviator should be running around in the desert is if his plane has been shot down!!
A nod to 'Smash' at Indepundit.
yikes, that's some shit.
you feeling hungover yet??

When I was on active duty in the early 80's, in the JAG Corps, the Navy seemed to average about one major aircraft (including helicopters) accident per month someplace in the world. I don't know how many of those aviators died, but most of the aircraft were damaged beyond repair. Granted, the aviators probably got more air time in those years because the simulators were less sophisticated and more expensive.
